1. Download the registry key

2. First extract the downloaded file


After the download is complete, first extract the file by right-clicking > 7-zip / WinRAR > select Extract Here.

3. Right-click the registry key> Merge to enter it into the system


Open the folder called Windows 10 Photo Viewer Reg Key then look inside is a registry key. Right click on the key, then selects Merge.

4. Select Yes


Select Yes to execute key. After that, the key will enter the system registry on your computer to activate Windows Photo Viewer.

Right now the application should be active, but we still need to make a few adjustments to make it the default application.

5. Right click on any photo file


Open the file explorer then right-click on a photo or image file with a .png or .jpg extension

6. Select Open With


Then select Open with.

7. Select Choose another app


Then click on the Choose another App option.

8. Select More Apps.


Click again on More Apps.

9. Select Windows Photo Viewer.


Find and select Windows Photo Viewer.

10. Check "Always use this app to open .jpg files".


To make Windows Photo Viewer the default photo and image opening application in Windows 10, check the Always use this app to open .jpg files' option > then click OK.

What if the Windows Photo Viewer option doesn't appear?


If after entering the registry key above, but the options don't appear, then you need to restart first. Restart your computer, then after restarting it try again to open the photos with Windows Photo Viewer.
