After updating Windows 10, old files are still stored on the drive and we can clean them up to create new free space. This will also clean Drive C so it doesn't fill up quickly.

While using Windows 10, you must be very familiar with regular updates, both weekly and monthly. The size of the update can also be very large and quota- consuming, maybe you want to turn off Windows 10 updates for a while and continue at your leisure in the way we've discussed in the previous post.

In this post, bingGo will provide a tutorial on how to delete the remaining files from the update so that they don't become junk files that make the drive full quickly. We will do it without additional applications, because in Windows 10 there is a feature to clean junk files which is quite powerful.

How to Clean Windows 10 Update Residual Files

1. Enter the Settings menu

The first step is to enter the Windows Settings menu by clicking the Windows button and then clicking on the Settings button (gear icon). You can also press Windows key + i on your keyboard.

The cleaning process will be carried out automatically, you just have to wait until the process is complete.

You can also set Storage sense to clean junk files automatically in Windows 10, so we don't have to do it manually anymore. You can set the cleaning to be done every day, once a week, or every month.

You do this by turning on the Storage sense feature and then selecting a cleaning schedule as desired, usually I set it once a month (Every month).

Using Disk Cleanup

To clean old update files that are still stored, we can also use disk cleanup in Windows 10. This program is a built-in feature in every version of Windows and is powerful enough to clean a hardisk without having to install additional applications.

How to use it is very easy, follow the steps below

The first step is to open the disk cleanup program by clicking the Windows button, then typing disk cleanup => on the Start menu a program called Disk Cleanup will appear => click once to open it.

This program can also be used to clean old Windows files after you update Windows 10  the new version. If there are trash files left over from the upgrade, there will be an option called Previous Windows Installation. Check the file, then click the OK button to clean it.

Disk Cleanup can also be used to clean junk files from the browser, temporary files, thumbnails, and files in the download folder that are no longer used.

Those are some ways to clean the remaining files from Windows 10 updates that you can use, hopefully that helps.
